Halloween Safety Tips For Your Dog

Yard Safety:

1) Check to make sure your gates are securely closed after your last trick or treater or the next morning before you let your dog out into the yard.

 2) Check your yard for any candy, empty wrappers or costume parts that may harm your dog by either chewing or digesting said items.

Costume Safety:

1) Make sure your dog doesn't overheat while wearing a costume

2) Make sure the costume doesn't rub or bind the dog in any fashion.

3) Don't leave your dog unattended wearing the costume to avoid chewing and/or eating parts of the costume.

Candy:

1) Don't leave candy where your dog can reach the candy between trick or treaters.
2) Have doggie treats to give your dogs instead of candy to avoid stomach upset or allergic reactions.

Misc:

1) If the trick or treaters upset your dog, put him/her into a room with special toy or treat, perferably with calm music playing loudly enough to cover all the commotion.

2) Even dogs who love kids may feel threatened or confused by masks, swords and such. Watch your dogs reactions on the first kids who come to your door. If you see any tension or concern in your dog remove dog to another room.

Have a happy, SAFE Halloween!
